Eleni Karvela

Eleni earned an Integrated Master’s Degree in Biological Applications and Technology from the University of Ioannina, Greece, specialising in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology. In 2023, she began a second Master’s in Medical Science, with a focus on Molecular Medicine, at Uppsala University, Sweden.
She is currently conducting her diploma thesis at Vacara AB and the Karolinska Institute, where her research focuses on profiling autoantibodies—including anti-citrullinated protein antibodies—using Luminex technology to analyse samples from both patients and Vacara’s humanised mouse models, which closely mimic human immune responses in RA.
Her background includes research in immunology and autoimmune diseases, with additional experience in stem cell-derived systems. From July 2025, she will work at Vacara AB as a researcher.
