Position 1: Research Scientist (closed)
Position overview
We are seeking a Research Scientist with expertise in biochemistry and immunology and a strong background in laboratory work such as in vitro experiments and production of recombinant proteins. As a key member of our preclinical development team, you’ll focus on tolerogenic vaccine development for curative and preventive treatment of autoimmunity, specifically targeting different subtypes of rheumatoid arthritis.
Responsibilities
You are expected to work independently from research planning to data acquisition, data processing and analysis, to interpretation and reporting in a timely manner as an expert in the project team.
Specific requirements
- Doctoral or Master of Science degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related field.
- Immunological expertise and methodological excellence
- Prior experience in pre-clinical drug development and in vivo experimentation is an asset.
- Proficient knowledge of both written and spoken English
- Collaborative and communications skills for smooth co-operation in the team

The position provides a trial period of no longer than 6 months followed by a fixed employment, starting on 1st June 2024, in total 2 years, with the possibility of further extension.

Vacara develops a tolerizing vaccine (AID001), together with the Fraunhofer Institute and aidCURE AG in Germany. AID001 is developed for treatment and prevention of rheumatoid arthritis. The cutting-edge vaccine downregulates the autoimmune attack on the joints which is achieved by inducing the activity of regulatory T cells. Vacara has developed exceptional humanized mouse models with physiologic expression of chimeric MHC class II alleles, ideal for testing the AID001 vaccine in vivo.
